Statement
I have been illustrating since I was a young boy and I didn’t
even realize it. When I took a few classes in college is when I
really got exposed to the world of illustration and realized how
much I loved it. I would really like to see my illustrations in
magazines, books, clothes, and even television.
I create my illustration digitally. Working digitally gives me infinite
possibiliies when creating an illustration. Its also a more convenient
way of working.
I mainly love
to illustrate celebrities. The subject of my work is composed of
musicians, actors, and athletes. I love movies, music and sports
so that’s probably a big reason for my subject matter. I like
to have fun with concepts and color. I love to put colors together
and place colors in areas others may not. I have the most fun with
Hip-Hop artist. I love to take something from the music and make
it visual. When I hear a song or a rhyme that a Hip-Hop artist said
I can get inspired right away. Hip-Hop music is very visual depending
on the artist. My Hip-Hop illustrations are like visual music; they
go
hand and hand with the music. I like to call them my Eye Tunes!
When I am presented with a job or get inspired to create an illustration
I always think about what the illustration is supposed to say or convey. Illustration
is a language. I like to have a plan to get to the finished piece.
Sometimes I sketch out all my ideas and go through them. Other times
I may just write down different ideas. For me research is the most
important process before I get started. If I have good research
resources I am confident that my final product will be outstanding.
